About the Retreat


This mindfulness yoga and meditation retreat is an opportunity to step away from your regular daily life, slow down, and connect. We will practice mindful movement through yoga and breath work as well as some seated mindfulness meditation. Our mornings will be silent to rise peacefully and wake up to the day in a mindful manner.

Join Martha for a three day getaway on Wolfe Island at the beautiful Shanti Retreat. The spacious century inn and cabins are located on a tranquil 11 acre property. There are sweeping views of the St. Lawrence and memorable sunsets from the outdoor dining patio. Delicious vegetarian meals are lovingly prepared in the Shanti kitchen.

About Martha

Martha is co-founder and director of Modo Yoga Kingston located in the heart of downtown Kingston. She found yoga in Halifax 10 years ago, and once she developed a daily practice she noticed the mental and physical health benefits soon after. Martha took the Modo Teacher training in Victoria BC in 2012. A year later Martha and her business partner Tessa dreamed up their Kingston studio and had the doors open by fall 2014. The challenges that go along with starting a small business led Martha to dive deep into mindfulness practice and mindfulness meditation in particular. The slowing down, letting go, and simply being that a mindfulness practice offers f great importance to Martha during this time. She now brings Mindfulness into all of her yoga classes, and all areas of her life, and is working on launching an 8 week Mindfulness course at Modo Yoga Kingston in 2019. 

 She credits her late teacher Michael Stone for all of her mindfulness knowledge thus far and looks forward to passing it down to her own children and as many children of our future generations as possible! Martha is a mother and wife and values time in allowed Martha to stay grounded and connected to why she began to share yoga with others in the first place. Martha's teacher trainings include: Modo level one, Modo Flow, Therapeutic Yoga Intensive with Susi Hately, and Mindfulness training with Michael Stone. Martha enjoyed a few years of study with her late teacher Michael Stone and is forever grateful to him for the endless amount of support, knowledge and encouragement he gave to his students. Martha enjoys cooking at home and on yoga retreats with her partner Tessa, and spending lots of time at home and in nature with her two daughters and husband.
